Senior Session at the Missouri Botanical Garden
I love photographing families. I love photographing maternity sessions. My heart sings when I capture intimate moments between a mother and her children. Senior portraits are few and far between for me but every once in a while a great one pops up, one that speaks directly to my work. Ashley’s senior session at Missouri Botanical Gardens was just the one.
After photographing Ashley and getting to know her a bit better, I think I may have a girl crush. I wish, when I was her age, I was as aware of the importance of family. I wish I lived it out like she lives it out. Friday nights are spent cooking dinner and playing games at home with her mother and grandmother. Sunday mornings are reserved for church and family. When I read about her family’s tight knit unit before the session I knew these were images I had to make. It was only natural to incorporate mom and grandma in Ashley’s senior session. Mom and grandma relocated from the southwest to give Ashley a chance at a good, private school education here in St Louis. They uprooted to provide a better opportunity for their daughter. The bonds these three women have formed, the strength of the family is awe-inspiring.
Photographing these three women was a blessing. What a gift they gave me!

This is so beautiful! I love that first shot, so much emotion!! <3
Thanks Nicole! It’s one of our faves too 🙂
What a lovely session!!! You nailed this!
Thanks Marsha 🙂 She was lovely both inside and out. Plus, having mom and grandma along made it extra special.
